Because Sometimes, sv_password just don't cut it!What is SourceAuth?
SourceAuth is a server-side plugin for the Source Engine that will allow for greator control over connecting clients to the server. It will consist of a server-side addon/plugin, probably requiring Sourcemod, a MySQL database to store connection permissions and settings, and a website PHP script to manage all settings and aspects of the script.
Planned Features
- PHP-coded control panel
- MySQL Database backbone
- Administrator/Staff Logins
- Member Logins (optional)
- Staged-permission password tiers (Expiring password for guests, or permanent password for members)
- Rota system (Timed/Dated restrictions)
- Guest Invites (Allows members to invite friends for one-off sessions)
When will SourceAuth be available?
At the moment, we don't know when or if we'll ever progress in this project to release, but fingers crossed!
As more information becomes available, I will update this post. I am also looking to see how popular this project will get, and the demand for such a plugin, so please reply! I await suggestions!
Looking good Alteran! This will be great for Source games and servers that are geared towards Stargate. Hope to try it out soon once it's been developed.
I don't play online games that much so it wont affect me but I know it probably is something that would be greatly helpful.
hey Dan if you guys need help with development let me know. I am proficent in PHP and C++ and if anything I can always do the graphic design.

I've gotten it to compile against sourcemod 1.1.0-hg2425. I'll be starting testing soon to see if it works.

I'm assuming that that result means it actually compiled without error. I'll contact Adrian and let him know we already have something here.
In-case anyone doesn't know who he is, he's one of the SGC-Clan's main developers. Remain on his good side, and he'll be loyal and efficient. I know from past experience that you shouldn't annoy him, else you'll get an earful.

I'm liking the idea of SourceAuth, it has some good potential. I only wish i knew a thing or two about coding and stuff... I did a few years ago when i was in Highschool but as soon as I left i stopped using that knowledge and it just left me.

You would be correct in that assumption. All I need is a willing server that isn't going to blast my MySQL server and we can test it. I've already got a db+table ready for it.
